Effective October 10, 2026
These terms cover your use of Hacker Lights Studio (“the studio”) at afabian.com/hackerlights, a free web application run by Andrew J. Fabian (“I”, “me”) as a personal project. By signing in or using the studio you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
You sign in with a Google account, and you are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to consent to online services where you live if that is higher, to use the studio.
You keep all rights to the images you upload and the layouts, patterns, timelines and projects you create. You give me permission to store, copy and process that content only as needed to run the studio for you: for example, to generate previews and compile LED files. Your content is private to your account and is not published or shared.
Only upload content you have the right to use. Do not upload anything unlawful, infringing, or unrelated to designing light patterns.
Please do not:
I may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.
Files compiled by the studio control physical LED hardware, and can run LEDs at full brightness. You are responsible for your own hardware: correct wiring, adequately rated power supplies and cables, heat, and safe installation. Rapidly flashing patterns, such as strobe effects, can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy; take care where your lights will be seen.
The studio is provided free of charge, as a hobby project. Features may change, and the studio may be interrupted or discontinued. I will try to give notice on the website before shutting it down, but cannot promise to. Keep your own copies of the images you upload and of any LED files you rely on.
The studio is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. I do not promise that the studio will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that your content will never be lost.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, or for damage to equipment or property, arising from your use of the studio or of files it produces. My total liability for any claim relating to the studio is limited to the amount you paid to use it, which is nothing, to the extent the law allows. Some places do not allow these limitations, so some of them may not apply to you.
You can stop using the studio and delete your account at any time from the Account page.
I may update these terms. The updated version will be posted here with a new effective date, and continuing to use the studio after a change means you accept the updated terms.
How the studio handles your information is described in the Privacy Policy.
